This service is for spiritual seekers, the Jesus-curious, and professed Christians alike. The sacred circulation of wisdom, music, and questions nourishes us for lives of purposefulness and love - we encourage participants to bring both open hearts and critical minds. 

This 45-minute service adapts the ancient, ecumenical form of  “vespers” (a word that simply means “evening”). Our homespun liturgy draws from multiple sources for its language and music, but strives to create as much space for silence as it does for the spoken word.

Lutheran liturgy will likely feel familiar to those from a Catholic, Episcopal, Methodist, or Presbyterian background. For those less familiar, liturgy often includes a musical form that may sound like "chanting;" it is understated in its melodic movement and often soothing to the ear. We will also sing two songs each week that are also simple, but more familiar in their musicality.

There are two wisdom readings in this service. The first is "wisdom of ancestors and kin," broadly inclusive of a variety wisdom traditions, including Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Indigenous wisdom, and more. The second reading will be a verse from Christian scriptures focused on the concerns, questions, and practices of Jesus.
